Special Town Meeting
May 22, 2008 at 6:30 PM
Lamartine Municipal Building Meeting Room
Present at this meeting were Chairman Frank Bartzen, Supervisors—Mike Suprenand, and Bruce Rhode, Treasure—Greg Michels and Clerk—Jill Randall.
With all notices having been properly posted, Frank called the meeting to order, stating that the purpose of this meeting was to seek approval from the town electors to exceed the highway budget so the town could purchase a new town plow truck.
Frank led the pledge of allegiance.
Frank explained that the at the May 12, 2008 Town Board Meeting the Board voted to purchase a new plow truck to replace the 1995 Ford Truck. The estimated cost of the new truck is $130,790.00. He further stated that the board had approved applying for a $90,000 five year term loan from the State Trust Fund and using town money market funds to pay for the remainder of the truck, approximately $40,790.00. The Town now needed permission from the Town Electors to spend over the set Highway Budget to move forward and purchase the new plow truck.
Greg Michels made a motion that the Town be allowed to exceed the highway budget to purchase the new plow truck. Mike Suprenand seconded the motion. Frank asked for a paper ballot vote, explaining that a YES vote would approve exceeding the highway budget and a NO vote would deny exceeding the highway budget. Let the record show that eight (8) paper ballot votes were taken, with the following results: YES Votes—8 and NO Votes—0. The Town electors unanimously approved exceeding the highway budget to purchase a new plow truck.
Bruce seconded by Mike made a motion to destroy the ballots. Motion carried unanimously.
Mike moved to adjourn the meeting. Bruce seconded the motion. Motion carried and the meeting adjourned at 6:45 Pm.
